“…great storytelling combined with honest and straight-forward insight into real mental illness.”

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) fried Emmett’s memories and shredded his normalcy. Haunted by lurid hallucinations but determined to put his life back together, he rambles along a dangerous precipice, balancing between the normal life that he craves and the murky sea of mental illness that colors his existence.

This book is amazing! It tells the story of a person with a serious mental illness in the most honest and straight-forward way possible, with no drama, and without glossing over the facts. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to know how to effectively support a loved one with a mental illness, or anyone who is looking for some hope for a better life while suffering from a serious mental illness.

Extremely well written. The author makes you feel as if you are present in his circumstances. A real eye opener for those who are not very familiar with mental illness. I look forward to the next book.

This book was incredible – such open and honest dialogue into the life of someone living with schizoaffective disorder. As we continue to destigmatize mental illness, this book offers much needed insights into the struggles that our friends and other loved one’s cope with on a daily basis. I certainly appreciate this new perspective that will allow me to be more compassionate and more understanding.
